Community Website Profile A local entrepeneur who has developed a popular survival guide to living in Geneva wanted to produce a website which would complement rather than replace the content of her book.  Key elements required on the site were an events calendar, news articles, free classifieds section, and up-to-date information on community services which could not be included in the book due to its biannual publication dates.
Non-Profit Association Profile A local sports association needed a new website to promote ice hockey in the region.  The site needed to offer reports on team matches, news on local clubs, and event calendars, as well as promote a big international tournament being launched that year. The site was provided in French, with the option to add English if required.
Service Provider Profile A local therapist who provides a useful service to the local community of Geneva wanted to make herself more widely known in the region.  She required a simple website outlining the range of services she offers and answering some of the most frequently asked questions by clients.  She also wanted the flexibility to add additional languages at a later date, and the ability to adapt the website to her own design style.
Local Business Profile A local café owner, who provides a popular restaurant service to the local community of Geneva, wanted to make herself more widely known in the region, and needed an "internet presence".  The owner was in the process of updating promotional literature and needed a working website so that she could add the address to her brochures, which were about to be printed.  She required a simple four-page site outlining the service offered and the food provided, along with some photos of the café and useful information covering opening hours.
Networking Website Profile An association for British entrepeneurs wanted to spread the word about its activities in the region.  They already had a website, but it had been created by people who had long since disappeared, so they were no longer able to maintain it. What they needed was a low-cost site, which was quick to build and easy to update themselves.
Small Business Website Profile A local artist, who runs pottery workshops for both children and adults, wanted a new look for her website.  Her current website was proving too difficult to maintain and did not allow her to add specific functions such as a private area for showcasing client photos.  Since many of her clients were English as well as French she also wanted the site to be available in two languages.
Small Business Website Profile A local businesswoman, who runs a small training and video production company in Geneva, needed a new website to showcase her videos and other professional services to clients.  Since she had no corporate identity of her own, she also needed a special "look" for the website that could be applied to business cards and other promotional material.
Online Store Profile A local entrepreneur, who has been running an online toy store for several years, needed to give her site a fresh look, as well as update some of its functionality.  With over a thousand products already featured on the site, it would have been both costly and time-consuming to transfer all her data over to a new e-commerce package.   Instead, a compromise was reached using the low-cost package Joomla, to showcase her main product categories on the home page and provide quick links to a range of new features she wanted to offer on the site.
Development Website Profile A local hairdressing salon was investigating the possibility of creating a new website to improve awareness in the local community. To help them visualise the various options available to them, a test site was created quickly for them.  Although the client chose not to proceed with this website, they were able to see how easy it is to test out different templates and colours in the development stage of a new site.

New Business Profile A UK entrepreneur was setting up a new consultancy business and needed an immediate presence on the web.  With a minimal marketing budget, he was happy to produce a site using an off-the-shelf template that met most of his needs but which could be adapted at a later date if required.
Rebranding Website Profile A networking organisation supporting local women in business was due to go through a rebranding process, which would bring it in line with its parent organisation in America.  New logos needed to be incorporated on their existing site, and "corporate" colours applied throughout. Following the site changes, the organisation needed someone to maintain their site on a weekly basis, ensuring that it remained competitive in a marketplace that was seeing an increasing number of networking organisations emerge.
Industrial Website Profile An industrial supplier of thermal imaging equipment needed a website to showcase its products and the markets within which they operated.   In particular, the company wanted to use the website as a medium for educating its customers in the benefits of infrared technology, helping them to identify new applications for their equipment.  Case studies would be a major feature of the new site.
International Tournament Profile A new ice hockey tournament was being launched in the region and a website was required to provide key information for registered teams.  Initially discussions focused on having a separate website, but eventually, for cost reasons, it was decided to create it within another larger website promoting ice hockey in the area.  The site needed to be provided in two language versions, French and English.
